Nail Polish Removers: Priti NYC & Andrea Fulerton

Priti Soy Remover, Andrea Fulerton Remover

I change up my nail polish about 2-3 times every week so my nails are prone to feeling dry and peeling/breaking. I used to just rely on Superdrug's acetone free nail polish remover or another cheapy one but I don't think they really helped to maintain the strength of my nails.

When Cult Beauty had their pop-up shop in Selfridges a few months back, I had a chance to properly look at Priti NYC's Soy nail polish remover which I had been curious about. I purchased a bottle and I've been using this for a while now and have tried it on various different polishes to see how it fares.

This feels very different to conventional removers as it has a more oily texture so as I am applying it on my nail, I kind of feel I am rubbing a nail/cuticle oil onto my nails. Initially it seems that this will not remove a thick layer of polish, but using a small amount (about half of what I would normally use if I was using a standard remover), it surprisingly does remove all polishes effectively (glitters take a little more work but it is more effective then the Superdrug one I was using before).

I really like this remover, but it does take a little bit longer to remove the polish and before you can apply a fresh coat of polish, you do need to wash the oily residue off. On the plus side when I do wash my hands, my nails feel nourished rather then dry so it's like I've given them a treatment rather then just taking old polish off. I am not very good at using cuticle oils so this kind of serves that purpose to me a bit and I think my nails are in better condition and don't break as often.

Priti's remover comes in quite a dinky 118ml plastic bottle with a screw-top lid which I initially thought that I would get through rather quickly, but in the few months I have used it I am only just now getting to halfway through the bottle.
At £18 it is a rather a lot for a nail polish remover, especially as I'm used to paying no more then a couple of quid, but I like the way my nails feel with this. Yesterday I was applying a fresh colour and like a doughnut I managed to mess up my polish before it dried and I did this twice! Anyways I used this remover and it didn't feel stripping at all.
Ingredients: soy ester, corn ester, orange oil, vegetable glycerin.

When I do feel a bit impatient and need to take off my polish super-quick, I reach for Andrea Fulerton's Nail Boutique Pump It Up Nail Polish Remover. A really convenient salon-style pump bottle that contains 120ml of product for £3.99 and is acetone free.
This really dissolves polish quickly and cleanly and doesn't feel drying. It removes glitter polish quicker then any other remover I've used. I actually prefer this over Zoya's Remove +.
I haven't had this as long as the Priti, but I have gotten through 1/4 bottle quite quickly as I do need a bit more remover. I don't mind this so much as it is very effective and doesn't cost as much.
Ingredients: Ethyl Acetate, Iso Propyl Alcohol, Aqua, Iso Prpoyl Myristrate, Parfum - Contains: Limonene, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Coumarin, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Tocopherol Acetate, Panthenol, CI 47000, CI 61565.

Both of these removers don't smell like conventional acetone type removers - the Andrea Fulerton has a subtle soft minty scent and the Priti has an unusual, slightly orangey scent so they don't fill the whole room up with overly strong, chemical smells.

I love both of these and will repurchase them when I run out. Overall, excellent stuff!

Nails of Last Week: Andrea Fulerton Mischa Nail Polish

Yep, another Andrea Fulerton purchase (I tried to be good, I got just the one polish), this time it's the nail colour in Mischa.
Out of the shades I saw on the stand in Superdrug, this was the one that struck me as more unique, and with it being the time of year for all things glitzy (and rainy), this fits the mood perfectly.

It's a dark grey shade packed with very fine gold shimmer - but as it's so densely packed, I can't quite tell if it's all gold as in the light I can pick up hints of red and blue. It's rather deceptive and quite complex as in some artificial lights it can lean towards a tiny bit taupe or khaki but  it is grey with a very subtle (so subtle I may have imagined it) blue undertone.

These pics are with 2 coats polish and inm Out The Door as the topcoat and also after almost 4 days wear, hence the tip wear (sorry no fresh pics). This applied well with no streaks but it does require 3 coats to be completely opaque.

With the topcoat over it, it does feel smooth on nails and not gritty and it removed ok at the end of the week.

Nail Art with Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle in Patti

This is the look I've created with Andrea Fulerton's Stripe & Sparkle in Patti that I posted about previously here (please excuse the red around the cuticles - the previous polish I had on stained a bit). With me not being particularly ambidextrous, I've done a simpleish wavy line design which I could replicate as well on my right hand. That's the thing I tend to forget when attempting nail art - I can do something good on my left hand but it can look a bit pants on my right hand.

I have used OPI's You Don't Know Jacques as a base colour which in real life looks a bit darker then the pic so the contrast between the YDKJ and the black is not as strong.
This is quite a fun product to use as I quite like sprinkling the glitter over the polish as it's a cute pepper-style sprinkler.

The holographic glitter reflects red, green & blue in the light
Overall this is a great product and I am very tempted to buy more colours but I am on a bit of a nail polish low/no-buy at the moment. I think I may break it with this range;)

A Little Nail Art: Models Own Grace Green & Andrea Fulerton Nail Tattoo

Models Own Grace Green - I really like this green, it's just murky enough without going too grey and the formula on this one is better then some of my other Models Own polishes as it flows well making application much easier.

I missed out Chanel's Khaki Vert but after seeing it on counter I prefer the Model's Own and even though they are not the same this makes a nice alternative. When I popped into Topshop later I saw they have a khaki green colour called Utilitarian which also looks like a lovely shade as well (which I am very tempted by).

This is two coats with Andrea Fulerton nail tattoo applied on top then Gloss Up Overcoat applied as a topcoat to seal everything.

The nail tattoo is quite straightforward to apply - it is self adhesive and there is a little allowance in that you can peel it off if you misplace it a bit. I used a craft knife to lift the tattoo from the card as they are rather small designs.

Here is a close up:

Both pics are after 2 days wear so there is very slight tip wear and a tiny bit of the chain design has come off on one nail but overall I am pleased with how well this has lasted (2 days is good for my nails).

The Andrea Fulerton Gloss Up Overcoat is a nice consistency - not too thick and applies well.
But this is no Seche Vite as it doesn't dry fast and is not as glossy. I will try with some other polishes to see what the wear is like across other brand polish.

New Nail Products in Superdrug: Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Haul

There is not a great deal of nail art products available in my regular haunts apart from the more press-on nail variety but with the arrival of Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique in Superdrug, this is set to liven my nails up a bit and I am looking forward to creating some new nail looks with these.

There are quite a lot of products in the range including the standard colour polishes and manicure products to more interesting things like press on gems, tattoos and double-ended polishes to create new colour looks.
I really wanted to get a few more products but I have gone a bit polish-crazy this past month so I only bought a few bits.

Gemstone Overcoat (£4.99 for 5.5ml)
This looks very pretty in the bottle and sort of similar to one that Gosh does but as I don't have the Gosh one I can't really compare it. Gemstone Overcoat has copper reflects suspended in a clear base. In different lights you can pick up a slight green iridescent quality but mostly it looks more copper-toned.

Stripe and Sparkle (£4.99 for 8ml)
These come in quite a few different colours but I went for this one which at the bottom has a black polish with a fine brush to create nail art designs and on the top has a cute little shaker which holds holographic silver glitter which you can sprinkle over any wet polish to give some sparkle. I really like this idea as in the past I have tried the nail art pens which have the needle point applicators but with this I find I can get a finer line and have more control. The glitter is also great as it doesn't stick to clothing etc and can be brushed off easily as I found that shaking it onto nails is not the most precise application so you do get glitter going a bit everywhere.

The little shaker holes

The fine brush applicator

Nail Tattoos (£1.99)
These are rather sweet little stick on tattoos that come in several different designs including skulls and crosses although I picked these cute little lock and key ones and a chains one that are a little reminiscent of the Chanel body tattoos.

The other product pictured is the Gloss Up Overcoat (£4.99) which is a topcoat but I am going to use that a bit more before I review.

I am going to do some more posts on some nail looks created with these products but overall I am excited about this range and the possibilities for some interesting nail designs.

Disclaimer: Purchased by me (but the Nail Tattoos were free with a purchase)
